Bienvenidos a casa!

Good to be home from Mexico Mariachi Band . We had a great time, ate lots of food, drank lots of Mexican beer and I got a sunburn/tan. We got there a day late due to dear hurricane Emily. We were boarded on Sunday afternoon as planned but they had us de-plain and we ended up staying the night in Houston. Finally got there Monday afternoon. Our hotel was pretty nice, not as nice as the Moon Palace down the way but we chose the Sun Palace because it had a nice beach... not so nice after a hurrican. All there were was rocks, big sharp rocks. We went to a bull fight. Worst experience ever! For me anyway. We thought they might actually kill the bull but figured they wouldn't since it was off season and this was strictly a show for the tourists. Chad said he thought they would just use red paint to symbolize killing the bull but no. They spent a good 45 minutes taking down this poor animal. I got about half way through and then they brought our the swords and I started crying. I walked out and sat in the entrance way with other discusted mothers and their children. I accept that's it's a "sport" and a tradition in spanish culture but to see this poor bull have to suffer for so long, basically bleading to death was very difficult. In my mind he's still alive since I never actually saw him die but I know he did die and I will morn that bull for the rest of my life. Wet
Next we went to Chichen-Itza. Beautiful historic site deep in the Yucatan jungle. We had a really cool tour guide who knew his stuff and would end each statement with "what you think about that, eh?" The site was recently overrun with vendors trying to sell their souvenirs. The whole family was out selling. Grandma's to the six-year-olds. It was so hot and humid and miserable and I ended up not hiking up to the top of the famous pyramid simply out of discomfort.
Mayan Ruins
We went snorkeling and that was fun also. We swam in two different spots. I have heard that Cozumel (the island 45 miles off shore) has some of the best diving and snorkeling but I have to disagree. Or, we just booked a sub-par tour, not sure at this point. I will post those pics once I get them developed off my under water camera. All in all a great trip but I am tired and glad to be sleeping in my own bed.
